Care and counseling ministry

At Faith, we desire to foster a culture of discipleship, where members naturally care for other members through word, prayer and good deeds. In a fallen world, we expect things to go wrong, and to that end we often need help from others to sort things out. While every Christian has a responsibility to live in a loving and caring way toward others, we recognize that there are some who are especially gifted to help with life’s most difficult problems. While our pastoral staff are happy to meet with you, we have trained Care and Counseling Team Members who are glad to come alongside you as well.

The purpose of our Care and Counseling Ministry is:

  • To unleash the sufficient Word among the members of the congregation (Eph 4:15; 2 Tim 3:16)
  • To ensure all members in spiritual crisis or in need of remedial discipleship are being personally cared for (Col. 3:16; Rom 15:14)
  • To increase confidence among the congregation in everyday counsel and care
  • To mobilize those inclined toward and interested in structured counseling or crisis care

We pray that this will be accomplished by:

  • Reinforce a culture of care through expository preaching, corporate prayer, small groups and social media.

  • Promote care in and through small groups

  • Provide targeted training events for those inclined toward or interested in providing benevolent care and structured counseling (i.e., general seminar or gender-specific seminar)

  • Recruit benevolent care advocates, mentoring couples and gifted counselors

    • A benevolent care advocate would be an individual interested in and inclined toward comforting and caring for those in physical distress.

    • A mentoring couple would be a godly, seasoned couple interested in and inclined toward helping engaged, newly married or struggling couples.

    • A gifted counselor would be an individual interested in and inclined toward engaging members in remedial discipleship or structured counseling.

  • Provide structured, accountable, intentional, and gender-specific care for those in acute crisis utilizing gifted counselors

COUNSELING CLASSES

We want to equip a growing body of men and women for counseling within our church. To this end, we offer a variety of introductory and in-depth counseling classes.

PREMARITAL COUNSELING

Marriage is the most intimate of human relationships. For that reason, it is not only a context for great disappointment, but also a means for great growth in Christ. Premarital counseling is offered to couples seeking marriage—and a proper way to position yourself for the blessing of marriage.

CARE /  DISCIPLESHIP

We understand that there are times in life where you just need some helpful advice, you are struggling in an area of life, or you are looking for answers. It is our joy to skillfully, confidently, and lovingly come alongside and encourage you from the Bible. Contact the church office and we will serve you in any way we can.

CRISIS COUNSELING

Even in our most difficult life struggles, the body of Christ is a place of refuge, help, and hope in intense times. God has gifted his people to provide care and concern during these moments. We want to come alongside and bring the help of God’s Word to particularly difficult situations. As such we have male and female members ready to serve.

For care in any of these areas, contact Pastor Mark Mincy, staff member Kelly Bueltel, a small group leader or any elder.
